2020-21 School Year Survey

Twin Fall School District’s Health Education and Learning Task Force asks for parent feedback regarding school opening in the Fall.

The Twin Falls School District recently started a Healthy Education and Learning Task Force aimed at developing a plan to safely open schools in the fall and contingency plans for a variety of situations should COVID-19 still be present in the community. The Task Force believes it is important to understand parent’s concerns and feelings about the many precautions that could be in place and the options available to the school district if students can’t be physically present in the classroom due to COVID-19.

“In order for the Task Force to weigh the options, it is important to have an understanding of what parents are planning for their students in the fall and what precautions they need to have in place to feel safe sending their child into our buildings,” said Task Force Chairman Bill Brulotte. “It is imperative that parents and guardians complete this survey so we can have a complete picture of what is important to our community.”

The Task Force is made up of stakeholders from across the education system and has representation from parents and local health care officials. Subcommittees of the task force are already being formed to broaden the representation on the committee and delve into the complexities of operating schools in a post-COVID-19 reality.

“It is important to understand that to the greatest extent possible the decisions about what school will look like in the fall will be made locally,” said Brulotte. “Each community has unique situations and we are focused on understanding our community, engaging them in the decision-making process, and providing the best educational outcomes possible given our local circumstances.”

As a system, our goal is to develop a plan that is flexible and will allow for changes to be made as the situation changes. We also want to make sure our community has adequate information so that parents know what to expect as we continue to navigate uncharted waters. In order to make these decisions locally in a way that fits our community, we need to hear from you.

The survey will be available until Tuesday, June 16. The Task Force will also be distributing a survey for staff members to understand their concerns and perspective on potential precautions and educational situations. While there are still many unknowns right now, the Task Force’s goal is to provide the School Board with a comprehensive re-opening plan in late July.
