Mrs. Wright’s Writing Corner

November is a month of darker nights, falling leaves, blustery winds, and the celebration of America’s discovery.  I have many choices for you this month, but space to highlight just a few.  A Turkey for Thanksgiving by deGroat is a favorite of mine.  Mrs. Moose wants a turkey for Thanksgiving, but maybe not in the traditional way.  A heartwarming story of friendship that I know your family will enjoy, too.  The Magic Tree House series offers Thanksgiving on Thursday with the non-fiction companion text Pilgrims.  Jack and Annie are transported to the first Thanksgiving learning Pilgrim ways and meeting Squanto.  The companion text is in greater detail of how Pilgrims came to America, dressed and lived.  Always a popular choice with students, you will find these in the small chapter section.  P is for Pilgrim by Crane, from the non-fiction section located under the loft, is a colorful book is filled with information arranged in alphabetical order.  A great book for sharing introducing the history of Pilgrim life.  Remember children love to be read to and read with.  As you gather together with the cool dark nights I urge you to enjoy these and the many other books found in the Bickel Library.
