Powerful Voices

On Saturday, February 4th, the combined choirs of Bickel, Lincoln, and Oregon Trail Elementary joined together to sing for Powerful Voices.  This annual fundraiser, held at The Orpheum Theater, benefits the CASA program.  The students sang "The Power of One” by Bomshel, “You’ve Got a Friend” by Carole King, and “Lean On Me” by Bill Withers.  Each song shared a message of friendship and kindness towards others; a perfect ensemble for the occasion!
Choir director, Susanna Terry, teaches music at all three schools.  However, this is her first year having all three participate in a combined choir.  Two years ago she organized a choir at Lincoln Elementary.  During that time, she was inspired by the school counselor to make the choir part of the "Kindness and Compassion Club", making sure all of the songs created a culture of caring for one another.  So last year she saw it fitting to have them perform for the Powerful Voices fundraiser!  Mrs. Terry strives to teach her choir students compassion by continuing to have them participate in acts of service at each school and in the community.  She is doing a great job, and we are so thankful to have her here at Bickel!
